Collection: Bedtime Pads and Underpads for Bed Protection

Bedtime pads and underpads protect beds, chairs, and mattresses from incontinence leaks overnight or during the day. Comfort First offers three sizes: a small underpad for chairs and targeted protection, a regular underpad for broader coverage, and a maxi bed mat for full bed overnight use. All three are available in bulk packs so you can keep a reliable supply on hand.

Which bedtime pad or underpad do you need?

Size depends on what you're protecting and how much coverage you need. Our Small Underpad (30cm x 40cm) works well for chair protection and targeted bed spots. Our Regular Underpad (60cm x 40cm) covers a broader area and suits single beds or split sleepers. Our Maxi Bed Mat (60cm x 90cm, 3,000ml absorbency) is designed for full bed overnight protection.

For most people managing overnight incontinence, the Maxi Bed Mat is the right starting point. It sits under the top sheet and handles a full night of leakage without soaking through. For daytime chair or couch protection, the Small Underpad is often enough.

Using underpads alongside wearable products

Most people use bedtime pads as a second line of defence rather than as the primary product. A pull-up pant or wrap around handles the person; the underpad catches anything that gets past the product. This layered approach is more reliable than relying on one product alone, and it protects your mattress and bed linen from stains and damage.

If you're using a wrap around overnight, a Regular Underpad or Maxi Bed Mat underneath provides full overnight security. If you're using a pull-up pant and an Insert Booster Pad, the same underpad strategy works.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between bedtime pads and underpads?

They're different names for the same product category. "Bedtime pads" usually refers to the larger, higher-absorbency versions used overnight (like our Maxi Bed Mat). "Underpads" is the broader category term covering smaller pads used on chairs or for targeted protection, as well as bed-sized pads. Comfort First offers three sizes covering both uses.

Are underpads reusable or disposable?

Comfort First underpads and bed mats are single-use disposable. Reusable fabric underpads are available from other suppliers and suit some situations, but disposable options are generally cleaner, more hygienic, and remove laundry burden for carers.

Can underpads replace pull-up pants or wrap arounds?

For most people, no. Underpads are designed to catch leaks that get past the wearable product, not to replace it. If someone is mobile, they'll move off an underpad during the night. Underpads work best as a bed or chair surface protector alongside a wearable product.

How many underpads will I need per week?

For overnight bed protection with one wearable product change per night, one Maxi Bed Mat per night (seven per week) is typical. For chair protection during the day, usage varies but two to three Small Underpads per day is common. Our subscription plans can automate ongoing supply.

Do underpads work on leather or fabric furniture?

Yes. All three Comfort First underpads have a waterproof backing that protects upholstery from liquid transfer. The 30cm x 40cm Small Underpad suits most chair seats. For couches or larger furniture, the Regular Underpad provides more coverage.

Are bedtime pads NDIS funded?

Yes, bedtime pads and underpads are covered under NDIS continence supports. Speak with your plan manager or visit our NDIS page to order under your NDIS plan.
